News and Notes
Back to School mini-retreat   -   In the past we have done back to school lock-ins and back to school day trips.  This year we wanted to try something different.  We thought a mini-retreat would be a great way to start off the school year.  Short trip, leave Friday evening get back Saturday before dinner.  We will use the time to hang out, play some games, and have a couple of lessons.

Safe Talk   -   During the three-hour safeTALK training, participants will learn how to respond to individuals who have made suicidal statements and help connect them with appropriate resources. Participants will also learn to recognize the invitations for help that some individuals make and are often overlooked by learning to apply the TALK steps: Tell, Ask, Listen and Keep Safe.  SafeTALK sessions are being planned for one or more Sunday afternoons in September:  Date to be determined

Sunday Morning
Reach (4/6) - A Study on Psalms and Prayer
The point of the lesson was to teach your child that they are missing an awesome level of communication with God when they don't make time to stop and thank Him for all He's done in and through their lives.

Next Steps . . .

Maybe you could recall some 'God moments? in your life. Hindsight is crystal clear. And looking back, maybe you can recall some instances where you could positively identify God's intervention in some way. Consider sharing this with your child. Then, consider asking these or similar questions to engage your child in a conversation based on this concept:

·       Why is it sometimes hard to see what God is doing in our day-to-day life?

·       How does God's working in our past give us confidence in the present, and hope for the future?

·       Is there a moment you can look to where you can absolutely say that was God working? Describe it. (Share your perspective of that moment, as well.) What did you learn about God from this moment? What did you learn about yourself or our family?
