"What If We Were Unoffendable"

Sometimes I wonder if we live in a world that is angry all the time. Seems to me somebody is always angry about something. And some of the things that anger people are shocking to me. We can’t even dare to disagree or we’ll offend and anger someone. Maybe I’m too harsh, but to me it seems so many are offended by every little thing. The smallest, most insignificant things seem to offend the most. I don’t understand why we are so easily offended.
What if we decided we would be unoffendable? You may think that is impossible, that there is no way anyone can truly be unoffendable. It is true we are human and we do get angry at times. But no one should sit, stew, and live in anger. When we hold onto anger, we refuse to forgive and risk sinful actions, relationships, and service to God. We must handle our anger quickly and correctly and let it go. If you refuse to let go of anger, you are holding a grudge and hindering your spiritual progress.
Why not make the decision to be unoffendable? This means I will not be offended over everything. This means I will not view everyone and every situation with a critical eye looking for a reason to be offended. I’m sure some fall into that category. Being unoffendable means it’s difficult to make me angry; and, if you do, I will forgive you. Businesses, schools, churches, and society would look different if we were unoffendable.
“Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.” (James 1:19-20)
