"Reflection"

We use mirrors every day. In fact, we use mirrors multiple times every day. We all take that last-minute look in the mirror before leaving the house to make sure we look presentable. And more than likely, that is after using a mirror to shave, brush your hair or put on make-up. We have a mirror on each side of our vehicle as well as a rear-view mirror that we use to drive safely to and from our destination. Most vehicles now have a mirror on the sun visors so you can take one last glance at yourself. Each time you look in the mirror you see the same person looking back at you. It is never a surprise to see our reflection in a mirror; it’s always there.

My question is what kind of reflection do others see when they look at us? When people at work or family members or even strangers watch you, what reflection do they see? Just as our reflection in the mirror is always that of ourselves, the reflection Christians should show is that of Jesus. When your co-workers, friends, family, and even strangers look at you, they should see Jesus. As Christians, our daily lives, routines, and most common acts should always reflect Jesus. People who do not know you should be able to watch you and see Jesus in you. We must remember that our daily actions and attitudes should always be reflections of Jesus.

The more we learn about Jesus and the more time we spend with Him, the closer we will be to Him. When our life is truly all about Jesus, we will then be a constant reflection of Him to the world. When people look at Christians, they should always see Jesus. I see the same image of myself each time I look in the mirror. The challenge is that I must live in a way so others will see the reflection of Jesus when they look at me. This truth should cause us to think about the reflection we will show others before we act or speak.

“And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit” (II Cor. 3:18).
