"Pursuing God"

Have you ever considered the many different things we pursue in life? We pursue education. We pursue a career and success. We pursue relationships. We pursue love. Most pursue some form of entertainment. It’s not wrong to pursue any of these things. I just wonder how many pursue God?
Maybe the mindset of some is “I pursued God until I became a Christian,” as if to say that once you become a Christian there remains no need to continue pursuing God. I believe we need to pursue God for the rest of our lives, no matter how long we’ve been a Christian. The idea of pursuing God is about actively making an effort to know God better and to grow spiritually. When spouses stop pursuing one another their relationship loses its spark and begins to deteriorate. The same will happen when a Christian stops pursuing God through daily prayer and Bible study. To pursue God is to live a life of worship and to long for spiritual growth.
“O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water” (Psalm 63:1).
