"How Do They Not Believe?"

January 25, 2023 | By Chuck

I’m writing this from Lubbock, Texas, where I am attending a workshop at Sunset International Bible Institute. During my long drive to Lubbock, I saw a variety of things that prove the existence of God. My drive began in the darkness of the early morning hours. It was a quiet, calm, and peaceful time. It’s clear why Jesus would rise early while it was still dark to pray. (Mk. 1:35) I eventually drove through the rain which speaks to the creator who gave it.

Eventually, as I got closer to Lubbock the rain turned to snow. Lubbock had a beautiful blanket of six inches of snow covering the ground. The peace and calm of the early morning darkness and the beauty of fresh falling snow both speak to the power and existence of God. So, I struggle with this one question. How do they not believe in God? How can anyone look around and notice the beauty of any season and say there is no God? God proves His existence every single day as His handprints cover the earth.

I can’t comprehend how people walk this planet and don’t believe in God. “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge” (Prov. 1:7). So, what does that say about those who don’t fear the Lord because they don’t believe in Him? We all need to take notice of the beauty that surrounds us every day and remember where it comes from. From a beautiful sunrise to an amazing and colorful sunset, God shows Himself to us all every day.

“The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork” (Psalm 19:1).
