"Honoring Our Leaders"
February 15, 2023 | By Chuck
“Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you” (Heb.13:17). We are so fortunate to have the shepherds we have at Cabot Church. These men are worthy of honor and recognition as well as our submission and obedience to their leadership. We don’t see the countless hours they put in behind the scenes making decisions that benefit us all. We don’t hear the countless prayers spoken to the Father on our behalf. We’re seldom aware of the stress they carry for bearing our burdens with us.
Our shepherds do all these things, and I’m sure much more, for the sake of watching over our souls. The shepherd’s primary responsibility is to lead their flock, all of us, to heaven. In the meantime, they have so many other things to do. They all have families they owe their time to. They also have the responsibility for their careers. And yet they still make it a priority to walk with us through our problems and struggles.
Most of the time we don’t give much thought to all that the shepherds do. We should appreciate and honor these men who look after our spiritual well-being. We should pray for our shepherds every day. And we should do our part to cooperate with them and help to make their job a joy.
