"Does God Really Love Me?"

For ages people have asked the question, “Does God really love me?” And, there is no doubt many are still asking that question today. I believe that question comes from a clear understanding of one’s own sinfulness. Who knows your weaknesses and sin struggles better than you, right? Well, God does and so that begs the question, “Does God really love me?” Our own insecurities about our personal failures lead many to question God’s love.
I guess the question I have is, “How can anyone even question God’s love?” I realize none of us are perfect. We all make mistakes, and some of those mistakes are life-altering and seem unforgivable. The actions of mankind must grieve the heart of God, but they never quench His love for us. God’s love for mankind has been displayed and proven in the death of His Son. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
To answer the question, yes, God really does love you. What else must He do to show His love for you? If you question God’s love for you because of your own choices, that is your own guilt and has nothing to do with God’s love. God’s love for you should motivate you to make better decisions and live in a way that honors Him. Do not question God’s love for you; question your response to His love.
“God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8) “For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39)
