A Rescue Story"

Just this week I saw a video of a law enforcement officer pulling a woman from a burning car. It was a real life rescue story. I’m both proud of and thankful for that brave law enforcement officer who jumped into action and saved a life. I can only imagine how grateful her family must be for his act of service. Most love a good story, especially one with a happy ending, but it’s hard to beat a rescue story.
My favorite rescue story is the one about my own personal rescue. The thing is, my rescue story is your rescue story, too. Jesus accomplished the greatest rescue ever for you, me and all when He died on the cross. Jesus rescued us from our sins by taking our sins to the cross. “For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God” (II Cor.5:21). We are rescued from the kingdom of darkness and eternal misery by the blood Jesus spilled at Calvary. None of us deserve it, but what an incredible rescue story God has given us.
“He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins” (Col.1:13-14).
