"When I Think About Heaven"
September 11, 2019 | By Chuck
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of the Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you”(I Peter 1:3-4). Peter presents heaven as an eternal inheritance for those who are born again. We like the sound of the word “inheritance”, don’t we? Our inheritance of heaven is far different than any earthly inheritance we could ever receive. Peter teaches that our eternal inheritance of heaven is “imperishable, undefiled, and unfading”. Unlike an earthly inheritance that is temporary and fading, as long as we are faithful to God heaven will be there for us.
I think about heaven and one day being with the Lord and united again with so many who have gone on before me. Heaven impacts my daily life as it motivates me to be a better Christian and to seek a deeper relationship with God. Eternal peace and rest is something I do not want to miss out on, so the thought of heaven affects the way I live every day. We need to face it, there is nothing in this life worth missing heaven for. I don’t want anyone to miss out on eternal life, so heaven challenges me to share the story of Jesus with others. The thought of heaven should motivate each of us to pray and read the Bible more and strive to be more like Jesus every day. I hope you think about heaven, because when I think about heaven I want to honor God in all that I do.
