"The God of This World"

         “In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” (II Cor. 4:4) The god of this world is hard at work and effective in his plan to lead souls away from Christ. How many times have you racked your brain trying to understand why an individual refuses to obey Jesus? How many prayers have you prayed for lost souls to have open hearts and minds to the gospel? We have an enemy, the god of this world, and he wants nothing more than to guide as many people as possible to eternal destruction. “Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” (I Pet. 5:8b) The Devil devours many by blinding their hearts and minds from seeing the gospel of Christ.

            The god of this world will use any form of ungodliness to distract and keep one blinded from God’s saving grace. Satan will blind with greed and the desire to have more money and stuff to keep one from the gospel. It is not beneath him to use lust for an illicit and immoral relationship to keep one from seeing his or her need for God. Satan will lead one so far into sin that some kind of addiction is bound to take hold and Jesus is not even an afterthought. The god of this world is blinding eyes, hearts, and minds every day by feeding fleshly desires. Know that sin never fulfills its promise to satisfy and the god of this world never has your best interest at heart. Keep your eyes on the one true God who defeated Satan at the cross by providing us a way to Him through His gospel.
