"Thankful To Be Where I Am"
November 20, 2019 | By Chuck
This time of year we’re all challenged to count our blessings and to consider what we’re thankful for. Some even do a countdown to Thanksgiving on social media by listing one thing each day they are thankful for. I’m no different than anyone else when it comes to what I’m thankful for. I’m thankful for my family, our health, my job, our home, family and friends. Not to take anything away from all the many blessings that God has given me, but I’m most thankful to be where I am. Of course I’m thankful to live in Cabot, Arkansas and to call Cabot Church of Christ home, but neither is what I’m most thankful for.
When I say I’m thankful to be where I am what I mean is I’m thankful to be in Christ. I’m very fortunate to have so many blessings and I never want to take any of them for granted, but I’m most thankful to be in Christ. It’s only in Christ that we have the hope of eternal life in heaven. We have the hope of heaven because we have redemption in Christ. “In him (Christ) we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace”(Eph.1:7). There is no greater blessing in this life than to have the forgiveness of sins, so I’m thankful to be where I am, in Christ.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places”(Eph.1:3).
