"Recharged and Renewed"

April 06, 2022 | By Chuck

Every time the forecast warns of strong storms the meteorologist will say, “make sure all of your electronic devices are charged.” His point is with the storm comes the possibility of power outages so we need to be prepared by having our phones fully charged. With our phones, we can track the storm and keep up with the latest weather warnings and updates. We even use our phones as a flashlight, which is helpful when there’s no electricity. And, of course, our phone keeps us in touch with family and friends. We are so dependent on our phones that we will make sure it’s charged when there’s a threat of bad weather.

With sin constantly looming, Christians should be so diligent to recharge our spiritual batteries. When we are recharged, we are renewed and ready for the day spiritually. “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect” (Rom.12:2). A transformed, recharged, and renewed mind is what we receive when we seek God’s counsel and wisdom through His Word and prayer. This spiritual recharging should take place on a regular basis, if not every day. Let’s not forget that our time together as Christians in worship and Bible study is a plug into our spiritual light socket. Be recharged and be renewed and you will be blessed by your faithfulness to God.
