"No Greater Joy"

October 19, 2021 | By Chuck

I experienced great joy when I was privileged to baptize my kids into Christ.  That was an all-time high moment for me.  Those are the moments in life you dream about and so desperately pray for.  The only thing that I can think of that would surpass the baptism of your children is seeing or hearing of their faithfulness to the Lord.  Every Christian parent wants his or her children to go to heaven.  We do all we can to teach the right things and even do the right things in front of our children, so they may see the best spiritual example.  So, faithful children are the pinnacle, the true mountaintop experience.

Anytime I hear from brothers and sisters from congregations I’ve worked with in the past, I always ask about certain individuals.  Sometimes these are people I baptized or worked closely with in their spiritual journey and I want to know if they have remained faithful.  It brings a smile to my face and warms my heart when I hear of their faithfulness to the Lord and how they are leading their family in the Lord.  There is no better news than to hear that your brother or sister is faithfully serving the Lord.  There is no greater joy than knowing that those you helped lead to Christ are still striving to please Him.  Sadly, that’s not always the case.  Unfortunately, not everyone remains faithful to the Lord and hearing that news about your brother or sister is devastating.

“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth” (III Jno. 4).  May we do our part as individuals to bring joy and encouragement to others by always faithfully walking in the truth.  When you are faithful to the Lord you encourage others to be faithful also.  When one leaves the Lord, he discourages many and could possibly lead others to follow.  Let’s spread joy by being faithful to the Lord always.
