"His Word, In Your Heart"

“How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word. With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments! I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you”(Psalm 119:9-11). The above question is especially relevant today. Remaining pure in this impure world is no doubt a necessary question. But, there are plenty more questions just like that one.
How can an addict overcome his addiction? Can an inmate reform, if so, how? How can Christians fight off their desire to sin? It’s interesting to me that each of these questions have the same answer. If you want to remain pure, beat your addiction, reform an inmate or overcome the desire to sin, then you must fill your heart with God’s Word. I’m sure most have at least one Bible somewhere around the house or a Bible app on their phone. I have multiple Bibles in my office and no telling how many more are at my house and the Bible app on my phone.
The fact is if we don’t read God’s Word it will not be in our heart. We’re filling our hearts with all the things we allow in through our eyes and ears. What you watch, listen to and read is going straight to your heart. Some of it may be fine, even good, and some of it negative. The thing to remember is only God’s Word has the ability to transform lives. The real answer to life’s toughest questions is found in God’s Word. Read your Bible and give God a chance to speak to your heart.
“I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you”(Psalm 119:11).
