"Grieving Through The Holidays"

November 09, 2021 | By Chuck

The holidays are known as the most festive time of year.  Plenty of colorful decorations and lights along with gift giving and family gatherings and meals.  All sounds great and exciting, right?  Maybe for you, but for some, the holiday season is the most painful time of the year.  The holidays are about time away from work and time with family.  It’s when many celebrate just being with their family.  But, what about those who have lost family members?

I assure you it’s not the most wonderful time of year when you are grieving the loss of a loved one that you shared so many holidays with.  Grief is just plain difficult, but it seems to be even more difficult during the holiday season.  The one grieving feels that everyone else is happy but them.  They want so badly to be happy but they just can’t because of the intense and overwhelming grief they feel.  This holiday season as you celebrate with your family, please remember and pray for your brothers and sisters who are struggling to celebrate the holidays because of grief.  To you who are grieving, I want to personally encourage and invite you to attend a special “Grief Share: Grieving Through The Holidays” event this Sunday afternoon, November 14th at 2:00 at Cabot Church of Christ.   This is a transforming event that will help the grieving to successfully make it through the holidays.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God” (II Cor.1:3-4).
