"Don't Overlook The Blessings"

December 30, 2020 | By Chuck

I realize that 2020 is a year that we’d all like to quickly forget. 2020 is a year for the history books, literally. I’m sure a day is coming when history teachers all across the world will teach students about the year of the global pandemic. I don’t recall hearing the year 2020 mentioned in a positive statement. Most jokes about 2020 are framed in a negative message about the memorable year. My point is I don’t know of anyone who has anything good to say about 2020.
Before we consider 2020 a total loss, let’s count our blessings. I believe even as difficult as 2020 has been, we’ve still experienced blessings in our lives. The temptation is to always focus on the negative and overlook the blessings, especially in the midst of a storm. One of the greatest blessings of 2020 has been the reminder that God is in control and always will be, no matter what. 2020 has also caused us to slow down and spend more time at home with family. Maybe the pandemic has caused some to value their family more and look forward to family time. Could it be that it took a global pandemic to cause some to recognize their need for a relationship with God. I know 2020 was rough, but don’t overlook the blessings that came your way in 2020.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him” (Eph.1:3-4).
