"Dead End Path"

I live on a dead end street. Well, I guess the proper term is cul-de-sac. However you choose to phrase it, the two terms mean the same thing. A dead end street means there is no outlet; the street will come to an end. I may live on a dead end street, but I don’t want my life to be on a dead end path.
There are many different ideas as to what a life on a dead end path looks like. Some will say it’s about your net worth. Others may view it more about your career and job title. I believe those things have little, if anything at all, to do with a dead end life. A life on a dead end path is one without a relationship with Jesus. No matter our age, race, sex or background, we’re all headed for eternity. No one will avoid a trip to eternity. In the same way, no one will avoid death. (Heb.9:27)
Since death and eternity is my ultimate destination, my worldly riches and accomplishments matter very little. In fact, I can have all of the wealth and accolades of the world and my life still be on a dead end path. I’ve often heard, “it matters who you know”. When it comes to making sure your life isn’t on a dead end path, it definitely matters who you know. We must know Jesus if we hope to avoid life on a dead end path. A life without a knowing Jesus is a life on a dead end path and that dead end is eternal separation from God. (II Thess.1:9) “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (Jno.14:6).
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths” (Prov.3:5-6).
