"Be Careful What You Like"

What do you like? That’s a broad question and will definitely come with a variety of answers. Some may list all the different foods they like. Maybe you would make a list of your favorite people or favorite places to visit. Others might mention hobbies they like or favorite teachers. Still, some might include a list of movies and books they like. We like many things, so let’s get specific.
What do you “like” on social media? Don’t we judge a post by the number of “likes” it receives? And, don’t you scroll through social media liking all of your friend’s posts? My question is, are you careful what you like on social media? We really must be careful which posts we like, because every time we like a post we place our stamp of approval on it for all to see. If you like a post that contains questionable content it will appear to all others that you agree with it, whether you do or not. This only matters if you care about your influence and as a Christian you should.
Do you realize that Christians add spiritual flavor and seasoning to this tasteless world? Christians are the light that shines in this world of darkness. Don’t lose your spiritual seasoning or light because you “liked” the wrong post and others noticed. Don’t put your spiritual influence in jeopardy by “liking” a post that contradicts your convictions that should be rooted in Scripture. Christians can’t like everything. In fact, we should never like or give the impression that we like anything that is sinful. “Abstain from every form of evil”(I Thess.5:22).
“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet. You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven”(Mt.5:13-16).
