"A New Year and A New Perspective"

January 07, 2022 | By Chuck

As time goes by our perspective tends to change a bit.  With the passing of time comes age, life experience and wisdom.  All of these things lead to personal growth and a new perspective.  I have welcomed the new year with a new perspective.  I’ve always been cognizant of the importance of spiritual growth.  In fact, I make it my goal to grow spiritually each year.  But, for me this new year has brought a deeper longing and craving for spiritual growth and righteousness.

Why this new perspective and why now?  I think it has a lot to do with what we’ve all been through the last two years.  The pandemic has not only hurt us physically, it has hurt us spiritually.  Many are completely out of the habit of gathering with the church for worship.  Many live in fear daily, even though our Creator and Father in heaven is still very much in control.  It seems our focus has been more on the possible political agendas of Washington and the vaccine and mask debate than on God.  Our current society and modern culture not only accepts sin but promotes it constantly through multiple avenues.

The thought of these things causes me to literally crave a deeper relationship with God.  The current state of our surrounding circumstances makes me desire more time in God’s Word and with God’s people, my brothers and sisters in Christ.  I want to pray more and walk daily in God’s light.  Brothers and sisters, let’s begin this year by taking spiritual inventory of our lives and challenging ourselves to a greater spiritual focus.  Make sure God is on the throne of your heart and seek Him diligently and not get lost in the things going on around us.

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied” (Mt. 5:6).
