"Thank You G.O.L.D. Class"
May 28, 2024 | By Chuck
If you missed it, last Wednesday evening was phenomenal. Our young people, 4th – 6th graders, did the whole service and provided cookies and snacks afterward. For several years now, each Spring there has been a G.O.L.D. class for 4th – 6th graders. G.O.L.D. is an acronym for God-Oriented Leadership Development. This is a class for the girls led by several ladies from the congregation and a separate class for the boys led by multiple men from the congregation. For an entire quarter these young ladies and young men learn how to be servants of the Lord and how to serve in the church.
I believe this G.O.L.D. class is a very important ministry and one that simply must continue. It is so encouraging to me to see the excitement in the eyes of the young ladies and young men as they showcase all they have learned throughout the quarter. It is more than a little intimidating to serve in front of a lot of people, and these kids have done it well. I am so proud of each of them. From every prayer, scripture reading, song, and devotional to every cookie and donut served, they all served the Lord by serving His church. Last Wednesday was great and proves to us all this has been a successful quarter, and the G.O.L.D. class is so important.
Thank you G.O.L.D. class for showing up, putting in the work, and learning and serving the way you did. Thank you G.O.L.D. class teachers; without you last Wednesday would not have happened and these kids would not have learned so much this Spring. All of you, teachers and students, used your God-given gifts to serve the Lord and His church. Thank you for blessing us. “Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.” (Romans 12:6-8)
