"A Serial Killer On The Loose"

     Can you imagine what would happen if local news and radio stations made the announcement that a serial killer was on the loose? We would immediately jump into action to take proper precautions. We’d call our family and friends in the area to make sure they were aware of the looming danger. If you do not already have home cameras and a security system, you may purchase both. Some may purchase a firearm or some other kind of weapon. Others would make sure their gun is loaded. Maybe more people would stay home and even work from home.

            One thing is certain if a serial killer was on the loose in our area, it would change the way we live. I want you to know that no such announcement about a serial killer has been made in our area, and I’m thankful for that. But, at the same time, maybe that very announcement should be made in every area around the world. We do have a serial killer on the loose, and he is wreaking havoc around the world. Satan is a spiritual serial killer and wants nothing more than to lead as many people away from God as he can. The very sad reality is that Satan is good at what he does. He will tell any lie necessary to make any sinful practice look more fun and enticing.

            Brothers and sisters, we need to know that there is a serial killer on the loose and it’s Satan. He tempts his victims with sin with the goal of leading them into a world of darkness. He kills his victims spiritually by luring them farther and farther away from God. This very scene unfolds somewhere every day in our world. We must take seriously that there is a spiritual serial killer on the loose and prepare ourselves for his attack.

“Be sober – minded; be watchful.  Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.  Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.” (I Peter 5:8-9)
