Mexico M. T. Meeting DURING CLASS   –   We have the Mexico Mission Trip scheduled for this coming summer for June 7-15.  Last year was an amazing trip and we would love to bring as many teens as possible this year also.  We will spend time talking about how God used us last year and the details about this trip for the upcoming year.

Teen Leaders Conference   –   TLC is a weekend retreat in Branson, MO for 9th-12 graders who see themselves as leaders in the youth group, or who want to be leaders in the youth group.  The retreat will be January 19-21 and the cost is $35 ($100 value).  This is a time where we get together with the leaders from the youth groups of the Searcy churches and have time to sing, pray, study God’s word, and have fun.  Info packs and how to sign up at Welcome Center.  Have to sign up and pay by Dec. 2.

PROGRESSIVE DINNER   –  We are going to have a progressive dinner on Saturday, December 1.  We will meet at church at 6pm and ride the bus to different people’s houses for an appetizer, entrée, and dessert.  Parents are welcome to come.

Bible 101 (1/3)

We are starting a new series called “Bible 101” and it is about some of the Great Themes of Scripture.  Although I call it Bible 101 it is anything but basic.  Every year we are going to look at a few different themes that are prevalent throughout Scripture.  I believe this will help us to see how the Bible is a unified whole and when we understand some of the Big Themes of Scriptures it helps make the whole thing make sense.

This week we are looking at Covenants.  The whole story of Scripture is carried along by covenants, this is the engine that drives the narrative of Scripture.  One of the major themes of Scripture is “God seeking a relationship with his people through covenant.”  Here is a great video we are using as our launching point <>

 Questions you can ask:
– Why is God having a covenant with us so important?
(Covenants are not arbitrary, and God will stick to his word)

– Why is it so important we keep our own promises we make?
(We have to be able to keep promises we make to people we can see, it helps us to get in the habit of keeping promises to God who we can not see.)
