Wednesday Night – T. J. Davidson (Easton lead singing)
We are starting a new series this Wednesday. It is 3 weeks long and talking about Grace. So many of our teens struggle with self doubt and shame. This will be a very needed series.

Week 1
Text: Romans 3:23; John 4:1-30; John 21:15-19
Topic: Grace Is Greater Than Your Mistakes
Big Idea: Our sin is ugly, but God’s grace is greater than any past mistake or regret.

Summary: New word that has been added to the dictionary – blamestorming. Unlike this word, “grace” is a term we’ve heard countless times. This brings with it a danger. “The word grace is so common it doesn’t feel very amazing”. This three-week series will take time to dig into what grace actually means, versus what we think it means. God’s grace is more beautiful, freeing, and altogether greater than we could ever imagine.

Sunday Morning
Senior High – Gary Bulice
Romans – (5/5)
Gary will be finishing out the book of Romans looking at chapters 12-16. Encourage your teen to read those chapters so they will be ready to discuss on Sunday.

Junior High – T. J. Davidson
The Story – (5/5)
We are looking at Jesus as the Son of God. Some questions we will be talking about are:

– What would you say was Jesus' primary mission during his life?
– What character qualities do you see in Jesus
– In what ways did Jesus' words and actions reveal the reality the he is God?

Romans (4/5)

Gary Bulice is continuing his study of the book of Romans.  This week he is looking at Romans 9-11.

Junior High – T. J. Davidson

The Story (4/5)

We are again looking at the life of Jesus and just how extraordinary he was.  He never felt compelled to follow the crowds but instead lived to follow God.  Some questions we are going to talk about in class that would be great to follow up with at home are:

• Why do you think Jesus used parables as a way to teach people?

• Why do you think Jesus taught the parable of the Good Samaritan?

• What meaning does the Good Samaritan have for your own life? Who is YOUR neighbor?

• If you were Peter, would you have gotten out of the boat to try to walk on the water? Why or why not?

News and Notes
T.L.C. – Sign ups and information sheets for T.L.C. are now available.  T.L.C. stands for Teen Leaders Conference.  It is an event where we take the leaders from our youth group (around 10-12) to Branson with the leaders from Searcy Youth Groups (College, Downtown, Cloverdale, Westside, Highway, and Beebe) and worship and learn about God on a little deeper level than other trips.

Mexico Mission Trip – We are doing a Mission trip to Mexico for the Senior High (10-12th grade and families) this year.  Info sheets are at the Welcome Center and up in the Teen Center.  This is going to be an incredible life changing trip.  I hope you can make plans to come.  We are also looking for a nurse to come on the trip as a precaution to look after our teens so if you are a nurse and want to come please come talk to me!

Bob Arnold Devo – The Bob Arnold Devotional will be Nov. 12.  We plan on having a ton of fun games at the devotional and prizes.  Bob really wants this to be a Family Devotional, so families are encouraged to come!  It will be a little earlier since it gets darker sooner, so it will be from 3-6pm.  We will have the Lord’s Supper for those who could not take it this morning.  I hope everyone will try to come out.  Bob wanted to know which parents are coming out so let me know so I can tell him, Thanks.

June 22-30 – Mexico Mission Trip

Wednesday Night – T. J. Davidson (Grayson lead singing)
Scope (4/4)
This week we are talking about how we compare ourselves to others which is such a big problem, especially with our teens.  I think this lesson could really make a difference.  The main idea is Christ hasn't called us to want others people's lives or to compare our lives to their; he has called us to follow Him.

Sunday Morning – split
Senior High – Gary Bulice
Romans (3/5)
Romans 4-9 – Gary will continue his series on the book of Romans.  He will be covering Rom 4-9 this week.  Encourage your teens to read those chapters before class on Sunday.

Junior High – T. J. Davidson
The Story (3/5)
Jesus Ministry:
This week we are looking at Jesus’ ministry.  We are taking a few “snapshots” of the type of ministry he did and who he ministered to.  Some questions we are going to talk about in class that would be great to follow up with at home will be:

– Why do you think it was significant that Jesus fasted and was tempted by the devil?

– What kinds of people did Jesus usually minister to and spend time with?

– Who are the “tax collectors” and “sinners” of our society today?

News and Notes
HALLOWEEN PARTY
– This year for the Halloween Party we are going to do something like we did last year.  We are going to take the teens and do a Haunted House or Haunted Hayride.  I am going to try to find a Haunted House that is scary but at the same time is safe and Family Friendly.  More details to come.  If you have a suggestion let me know.

TRUNK OR TREAK – The teens will again help out with Trunk or Treat this year.  Trunk or Treat will be Sat. Oct 28 from 6-8pm.  We need as many teens to come as possible.  We also need them to get there at 5:40 to help set up and get in the right places.  We encourage people to also bring candy and drop it off in the family center so we will have candy to give away.  We encourage the entire congregation to come and be a part.  This is a great opportunity to serve the little kids in the congregation.

Upcoming Events
10/21 – Halloween Party
10/28 – Trunk or Treat
10/29 – Senior High Devo – Pfalser Devo – 6-8pm

Wednesday Night – T. J. Davidson (Cade H lead singing)

Scope (2/4)

This week in our Scope series, where we are looking at the life of Peter, we are talking about the idea of circumstances.  The main idea is that:  When all you can see are your circumstances around you, you miss out on what Jesus is doings all around you.

Sunday Morning

Junior High – Dylan Ball (I will be teaching but I’m on vacation this week)

The Story (1/5)

This week we are looking at the story of Nehimiah.

Quick overview of this entire series:

1) Know God’s Story

The idea is that through the 3 years the teens are in 7-9th grade, they will go through the entire Bible.  It’s important the teens has a grasp and understanding of the basic story of Scripture and these lessons are the main way we help them to see the BIG PICTURE and MAIN STORIES of Scripture.

When they were younger they probably learned some of the main stories but now they are older we want them to learn more specifics.  Not just their was a guy who built a boat, but we hope they can nail down more of the specific details of Scripture.

2) God’s Story Impacts Their Life

We also just don’t want to stop at them knowing the main stories of Scripture but we want them to understand how these stories relate to them and how we can be TRANSFORMED by reading and applying the Bible to our lives.  These stories did not just happen a long time ago but they inform us how to live today.

Senior High – Gary Bulice

Romans (1/5)

Gary will be working with the Senior High for the next 5 weeks looking at the book of Romans.
