Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
Try This: This week try to tell your teen how much you love them or how proud you are of them no matter how good their grades are or how well they perform on the team they are on.

News and Notes
Back to School mini-retreat
In the past we have done back to school lock-ins and back to school day trips. This year we wanted to try something different. We thought a mini-retreat would be a great way to start off the school year. We will use the time to hang out, play some games, and have a couple of lessons.
BIBLE STUDY WITH YOUR TEEN
If your teen is thinking about getting baptized or has already been baptized, I have a set of 3 Bible studies that I would love to do with your teen. It gives us a chance to study God’s word together and look at some important biblical subjects. It also gives me a chance to spend some one on one time with them and get to know your teen better. Let me know if you are interested, I am very flexible on when we can do the Bible studies.

Many times teens are labeled because of past mistakes they have made. Jesus tells us that when we are in Christ we are a new creation, the old is gone, the new is here (2 Cor. 5:17). We don’t have to let the guilt of our past mistakes define our future. God wants us to forget what is behind and press on toward what is ahead (Phil. 3).

Saving the Lost (3/3)
We are on our last week of talking about Saving the Lost. We have talked about what should motivate us to share our faith. Then last week we talked about what it means to be Salt and Light to our friends. This week we want to get very practical and discuss situations that teens are put in when they could share their faith. Sharing our faith should be easy and natural like talking to a friend. And this week we are looking at some “real life” scenarios where teens will have a chance to put into practice what they know.
